Hi
I have an SO 40 (2002) with a D2 55 volvo engine and ZF gearbox. We're have some problems with our Maxi prop (not giving drive in astern).
I'm hoping to to get a fixed prop whilst the maxi prop is away being serviced.
I've searched and searched and cannot find an details of the prop to match my engine gearbox combo.
I have emailed Jeanneau but not had a reply. Does anyone know the size of a fixed prop on a Jeaunneau 40 with Volvo D2 55 engine and a ZF gearbox? Alternatively does anyone who the gearbox ratio as I can work out the prop size if I have this.
Thanks
Jon

Are you reasonably close to your boat? if so, the gear ratio will/should be on the trans somewhere. On my yanmar, it is at the top back side of the trans. The OM also shows it being on the sides of the trans for some models. I would assume a Volvo/ZF would be similar as to where to find info.

Hi I have a 2001 SO 40 with a Yanmar 4JH3E 56 hp. We found the info for gearbox and prop size on Jeannou's site under Specifications. It give a hull list for all the boats with engine specs etc.
We changed from a three bladed fixed prop to a Kiwi Prop three blade feathering this year. I have to say it has been fantastic. It really has put a knot on the motoring speed revs for revs and the sailing is beyond all my expectations . The reversing is powerful, instantaneous and will be better than your present prop I'll bet you. (No I do not work for Kiwi). There are other reviews in this forum for the kiwi prop, they all say good things about it. In the UK they were so helpfull from the hull nuimber they were able to specify to me the shaft taper and prop required and they knew the gearbox ratios. Vecta Marine UK 01672 564456 If your changing props Go for the Kiwi. Vecta will post it world wide and it only weighs 3.5 kg. hope that is of interest. Tomina
