Hi, I am thinking of upgrading the Navman 8084 on my MF 805 to a Raymarine Axiom. My problem is that the Axiom 9 is smaller than the 8084 and I think the Axiom 12 is too big to fit in the binnacle. I think the only solution is to replace the wooden/laminate curved instrument panel. I would like to match the wood effect as it goes with the rest of the interior. Does anybody know if blank panels are available from Jeanneau or elsewhere and how they are fitted (I would guess they are glued in situ). Anybody with experience of doing this sort of thing and of Axioms?
Cheers,
Martin from Dorset

Martin,
I can’t advise you on your unique installation. But I can say that I also have decided to put Raymarine electronics products on my boat (a new 895). The new Axiom multipurpose screen/chart-plotter and the Quantom 2 radar in particular appear to be a leap ahead of the competition. (Not to start a debate on this as I think all The competitors have great products). My boat although late should be ready soon and I’ll report back once I have used the systems. For those of you following my experience... I was at Sundance in Blaine Thursday. Work is proceeding slowly but surely. Workmanship by the guys there is excellent so I’m very pleased. I don’t know if all the missing parts are in yet but looks like most Things are either installed or ready to install.

Hi capt'n Lynn,
Thank you very much for responding. I have looked at quite a few similar products which all seem very good but the Axiom seems to do all that I want at a price point that is about right for me. I will be waiting until the boat is out of the water for its yearly service in November so that the transducer (through hull option) can be fitted.
I will be very interested in reading your report on the unit. Enjoy your boat!
Kind regards,
Martin
