When we retuned from our land based lap of Australia our yacht was on hardstand with a very full fuel tank. It was overfilled filled prior to our departure 16 months earlier to avoid condensation. Inspection of the tank revealed very slight weeping of diesel from around the engine pickup, fuel return and pickup for the diesel heater. I have tried Gasket Goo in the past to seal these pickups but eventually it lets go. In this case I have used the local auto store equivalent to Hylomar Blue. I really dislike this job so thought I would take a couple of pictures in case others need to do the same. I hope this time it seals. It is apparently equivalent to Hylomar Blue. www.23hq.com/yachtbird/photo/44436944/originalThe Admiral and I look forward to the slight smell of diesel no longer permeating the aft cabin. The tank material seems to be very difficult to have a sealant stick to so lets see how this product works out. Regards, Trevor

Thanks for sharing Trevor, looks a very useful tip. What did you clean degrease the surfaces with?
I remember having a similar issue when we added an eberspacher heater on our 34.2

Hi Malcolm,
I would have liked to use acetone but only had methylated spirit on hand and it seemed to go a pretty good job. Lets see how it goes over time. I feel I may be revisiting it sometime on the future but time will tell.
Regards,
Trevor
