My wife & I own a Prestige 36. It's a 2004 model - this is relevant to these models, later Prestige 36's have had a bathing platform extension. Our model is great, but we've been plagued by black smoke staining of the transom after virtually any passage. Due to aerodynamics, the smoke from the exhausts curls up and back into the cockpit - I'm sure that other owners this. The smoke stains the gel-coat and is a pain to remove and keep clean. Anyway, Jeanneau released a nice pair of fibreglass exhaust extensions - they are contoured for a snug kit and turn the exhaust gasses 90 degrees down into the water. Ask your dealer for details. It would have been nice if Jeanneau had contacted owners - I found out by accident. I've noticed new Prestiges (42, 46 etc have had an exhaust re-design), so they definitedly got it wrong on the first 36's.

Just an update to the above post... Firstly, we have a 2001 Prestige 36, not 2004. Also, I've now fitted the extensions and they seem to be working really, really well. The whole transom and cockpit was staining and smokey black all over the gelcoat, and now there's just a film of salt after a passage. Fantastic. Call you dealer and order them!!!

I have the 36 with the 370hp volvo's and not experienced this problem but I do note that the exhaust on this model is below water level and might make the difference

Do you know any place in Europe where I could get these?

We also have a Prestige 36 from 2004 which was fitted with the extensions from new. I can vouch for the fact that they work well but an earlier post on this subject (see 2011 this section) indicated that they were no longer available. Jeanneau do not seem to keep any records on such details. There was a minor concern about these devices early in their use which referred to increased back pressure in the exhaust system under about 2000 rpm. This supposedly caused minor vibrations in the engines but I suspect this was not the case other than in one particular vessel and caused by some other factor. Our engines have always run very smoothly at any speed and never shown any symptoms or cause for concern. The only downside is that it is not possible to see any telltale water flow from the exhaust pipes. A trick I have learnt is that on first start-up after a few days of not being used I put an ear to both rubber pipes just before they enter the silencers when the water can be heard quite clearly as it passes through (or not!).
