I have a self tacker on my boat, it's called a crew. A whole new experience for me With this idea you perhaps need to play with the roller furling to figure out the right amount of sail it works with. If you run both ends of the sheets to the winches you can trim from both sides. The biggest problem for me to try this out could be the lack of places to connect the block/sheet end to. Our boats don't tend to have stanchion bases like this.

Yet to have a play. Don't fancy putting any weight on the stanchions. Was thinking of using the genoa car on track set for'd of the mast to connect the sheet end to or even better still use your MK 2 suggestion by using my original sheet (one piece) which means I just need the floating block on the genoa and have a German self tacker. Wont sack the crew just yet, let them rig it up first .........
