Speaking just of the hull, it looks very much like the 449 sitting on the hard in my marina, awaiting commissioning. In fact, with the three rectangular hull ports, I didn't think at first that it was a Jeanneau.

Interesting. At rendezvous a few weeks ago, new model was mentioned, BUT absolutely NO info was being given to dealer, nor were the ladies from Jeanneau saying squat about new model(s) either. Iirc they were saying no info until March next year........

Looks interesting. The fold down seat is quite clever and the same with the walkway.
The boat does have appealing lines but I think it would be a water if jeanneau don't produce a performance version with a taller rig and a deeper keel.

It does look cosy I think that the 440 and 490 will be huge sellers for Jeanneau stealing sales from Beneteau, Hanse, Bavaria etc... because it offers something very special and unique in cruising comfort and the walk way will be a huge selling point to older and less mobile sailors. The forward cabin looks pretty good for owners and cold kill the need for the DS range...

Those side decks look horrible for rail meat! But better than current option for keeping feet within the deck area......maybe going back to larger sides along the rail?!?!?

I was fortunate to be invited onboard #001 a few weeks ago. The helm positions are brilliant, you can sit in the corners comfortably with perfect view along the side, so sitting to leeward will be able to keep close eye on the leech etc. The new sprayhood - dodger is also a big design improvement. That big chine going right forward makes the internal volume amazing. Philippe Briand has taken a cue from the buoyant bows of the latest mini transats, so should not be at the expense of performance. There is a climb in water tight sail/storage locker accessed just from the deck right forward that compensates for the reduced cockpit locker space. Although aft there is still space for a generator. Having a large cockpit sink is also a great feature.

There is a SS grill over some drainage system but that wont help with waves breaking over the bow. Maybe if you are lucky and have your feet near the foot support, the water will flow under you legs???

certainly looks beamy and interesting design twist with the rear side decks. Not a fan of the galley along salon as you loose settee/seating area. Also interesting J did not comb over the sheets/halyards on the deck as they did on 409/419/44ds. Will be of interest to see pricing on this model. I think I will stay with my 44ds

Sounds like the years of running this forum has paid off with this little treat More of a fortunate concurrence of being in the right place at the right time. But yes my wife and I felt privileged to have the very first independent view of her just after first launch, on the proviso of course of remaining embargoed until this week. Jeanneau really do rate considered owner feedback and opinions on future model development.

The issue is that it would be a bit disconcerting having the water from breaking waves rushing under you feet. Admittedly the last time I sailed in such conditions, I was solo and hiding under the spray hood letting the AP do the work whilst I tried to stay dry.

This looks like a very exciting design. I need to see it in person to judge the workability of the cockpit and galley but it looks fantastic to me so far. I don't get the sink at the stern or the lines above deck but the hull and driving positions look spot on for a next gen vessel. I really love the access ramp concept from helm to deck. This appears to be an elegant solution to easy access and not always having to ask guests to move. I would like to see a video on systems and rigging as well as a full list of configuration options. Boat show season is only 6 months away.

Here are also a few random external shots as well. Note the offset of the cockpit table and companionway to give clear walkway down port side. Lots of intriguing detail on the boat like the beautiful fairlead for the asymmetric. The halyard tail bags are really neat, simply a stainless tube with a mesh bag, there are two by the wheels as well, a similar idea might be copied for other models. The sun lounger conversion is an option, a more traditional moulded backrest will be standard.
