We take possession of our S.O 45' 3-cabin model this June (moving up from a Catalina 42). I believe I'll have some questons and let's start with two. 1 Microwave - Where's the best place to position a microwave in the "L" shaped galley. What size and brand micro do you like. We are very light users of micro so our own bias is towards light weight and low voltage. 2. Television - What 's your favorite position of a TV in the main salon. Also please suggest size and brand TV along with your recommended antenna system. Thank you, danh

I don't have the same boat, but these are the items that I have and they work well, even when powered with the inverter.
Tappan microwave, 110V, purchased at West Marine. Sharp Aquos, 20" LCD flatscreen. Absolutely love it.

The smaller LCD TVs are fast becoming great bargains and with wall-mounting, very practical for boats. We're considering one in the 20-25" range for our SO34.2. Most now come with decent HDTV tuners, so US sailors can enjoy ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, PBS (and occasional others) HD programming without cable if you have a decent small antenna (the new. so-called "smart antennas" are very effective), are within 30 miles or so of the stations' antenna towers, and the DTV transmissions aren't on the low VHF channels (2-6) that require larger antennae (few are). The local weather "virtual channels" offered by some ABC and NBC DTV stations can be very useful in deciding whether to go out or stay in port, as they often feature real-time radar images that complement the aural forecasts from NOAA VHF radio services.
