We sail our 43DS from Sandy Hook New Jersey and have determined that the 80amp alternator is not sufficient to recharge our 300+ Amp house bank while at sea. Not wanting to install a generator, we have determined that a second high output alternator should be sufficient.
Anyone having done this in the past, we would welcome comments from your experience. Our engine is a Yanmar 4JH3-TE. Thanks in advance

This should be an easy thing to do, assuming that Yanmar has done this already, then you can get the additional bracketry and alternator. I would personally check with Yanmar to see if this has been done, and is a possible option. You can get dual alts in trucks, so I would think it could be done for the exact need you have in your boat. I had at one time a link to a yanmar forum like this, but alas. I lost the link! Marty
