I'm happy with my classic spinnaker feels more real .... despite the hassle of bringing it up...

looks like it would still get in the way of the anchor.
Might be OK for racing when the anchor is stowed but cruising I would still go for the selden retractable type

Not to be a downer if you will. Thought someone had posted this option awhile back. Personally, think this would be better than a Seldon for various and sundry reasons. Not to say a Seldon is not a good option too.
JUst my thinking, not that I try to hurt my brain electron too much.

Has anyone tried splitting the chain locker lid into two so that it is accessible despite the bowsprit being in place? I know that many of the bowsprit options are removable but that doesn't equate to wanting to remove it every time before anchoring ( and feel happier being able to access the locker properly just in case while I'm anchoring)

It can be used with an anchor Whilst the having to remember to move the bobstay might be an annoyance, it's certainly better than having to remove the Selden to get access to the anchor locker.

I know that many of the bowsprit options are removable but that doesn't equate to wanting to remove it every time before anchoring ( and feel happier being able to access the locker properly just in case while I'm anchoring) I had the Selden for a few seasons and it was a nuisance having to remove it for anchoring. I'm sure splitting the locker cover probably could work. For some bow/anchor roller/anchors this Trogear looks like a good solution. Although looking at the design of my bow with the location of the bow chocks it looks like it would not work on the SO40 I ended up going for a fixed bow sprit, partly because I needed more clearance for my new Rocna Vulcan. It gives me the luxury of leaving of setting up I disagreey before I up anchor or leaving it up until I swinging at anchor. Also, as I have 2 Assy to choose from that share the Selden CX25 roller, it stays permanently rigged and I just connect the sail to it.

This looks like it could be interesting for some trogear.com/Hi, my name is Ben and just came across this forum while doing local market research regarding bowsprits in Australia. We are the Australian distributor for Trogear. If you have any questions regarding the A-sprit please send me a message. Cheers BM
