I am just about to swap my CQR/Plow style anchor for a Rocna 25kg.
Has anyone fitted this anchor on their 43DS, or know if the bow roller has to be modified to accommodate it?
Thanks in advance.

I have a 43DS which we purchased new in 2002, and we switched a 47 pound Spade for the Quickline Ultra anchor (46 pounds) about ten years ago and it has served us well in all conditions. We have over 28,000 miles on the knot meter, and have done more anchoring than most world cruisers, since we sail up and down the Washington coast each year to Vancouver Island in Canada, and also the inside passage to Alaska (five times to Alaska with the 43DS). We anchor most of the time since we do not like all-night passages. The Ultra sets more quickly than our old CQR and the Spade, and it holds in weeds, gravel, sand, and rock bottoms. We have 200 feet of 5/16th high test chain, and another 300 feet of 5/8th inch rode. We have anchored upon occasion in full gales and many times in over 40 knots of wind and have yet to drag (knock on wood.) No modifications to the rollers or standard bow assembly were required, although we are careful when pulling the anchor up to be sure that it turns properly on its swivel to avoid contact with the bow, which has happened upon one or two occasions.

Spade should be the best anchor available, but quite pricey.... I went with Plastimo Kobra 2 - about 1/5 of the price and same performance

We went with a 45lb Mantus. So far so good. No modification required and when fully sucked in it helps support the bow seat

We got a Rocna 25 for our 43DS Aldabaran, and yes, we had to extend the bow roller for the anchor to fit (and drop safely). To do this really well of course we ended up having to remove the bow fitment, which of course means taking down the Genoa, undoing the forestay and Genoa furling drum... But it has been worth it, with the feeling of confidence and excellent holding we have experienced.

We added a Rocha 25 a few years ago. We extended the SS plate about 4-5 inches so the anchor would not hit the hull. We would have done this even with the original Delta. We have had no problems and there are no dings on the hull anymore.

Thanks to all for your comments and photos.
Having had two lots of SS work done in the area (southern Ionian) I am keen not to have any more undertaken if I can help it. In short, both were a disappointment in terms of quality. Just getting anyone to turn up on the appointed day at the appointed time can be something of a headache to say the least.
With that in mind and as it seems I have to extend the bow roller on a 43DS for the Rocna and not the Manson Supreme (which seems to do an equally good job) I will try and source a Manson around the Levkas or Preveza area.
If that fails I will look up around Corfu and if need be think about shipping one out via the man with a van. I will keep everyone posted how it turns out.
Thanks again,

I use this German Online shop to shop from and I'm quite happy with them ( you need to use google translate to translate from/to German , but they have shipped so far for me to UK, Spain and France and Greece and all has been very good - you can just ask the shipping to be made to a marina address in Preveza or Lefkas - this has worked well for me when I had a boat in Greece. - Just don't expect the things to arrive fast to Greece. www.segelladen.de/Inhalt-untergruppen/anker.htm

BTW: why you want so heavy anchor ? for 43 you should have a 16kg by default or if you want to be on the safe side - 20kg if the anchor is from the latest designs - Rocna Vulcan, Spade, Kobra 2...
