I just purchased my SO 43 DS Friday the 21st. Just going through her and cleaning her up. She hasn't sailed much the past 3 years.
I have all the parts (I think) to convert the aft cabins into a single. Does anyone have the instructions (the manual doesn't really describe it well) and where I could get the hardware?

We have the owners version but from what I gather the center wall comes out and stores below the bed. Then you install the cabinets on each side if you have them. I looked at a 43 that was divided and the cabinets were in storage.
Hope that helps,
Len

When we bought our boat it had the wall up in the aft cabin. We took it down and stowed it under the bed. We bought a 4" King size memory foam mattress, cut the bottom 1/4 to match the original mattress cut out. Its very comfortable! I wish we had access to the side cabinets! The extra storage sure would be nice.
Anyone out there with the owners version who could snap some pics and maybe post some measurements?

I have the two cabin(total) version, and do not have a center wall. The side furniture is removeable (I have done it) to run wires, etc. I believe that the matress I have is about the size of a "queen" matress in the US. It is not as big as the "king" size. There are additional cushions on the sides and the aft end that take up space and provide some cushioning in heavy weather, but it is not easy to sleep in the aft cabin in heavy weather. It is not easy to sleep forward, either. I have found that I have to wedge myself on to the settee with excess cushions to have a secure place to sleep in heavy weather.
The side furniture is really nice to have, for storage. I believe that you can just cut holes into the plywood base to get into the voids below - haven't had the need to do that.
I am not near the boat right now, but will look to see if I have any photos.

Thanks for the feedback. Pictures would be great of the side cabinets. All I have are the pieces. No clue how to put them together.
Regards.

I have a 43 DS. I don't know if my side cabinets come out. My boat came as a two cabin and I don't have the divider. What do you need pics of, I can get some this weekend.

Here are a few photos I have of the funiture in my aft cabin. The lockers are removeable, if you unscrew them inside the lockers.

Thank you very much. This should help. I can identify most of the parts and figure the others are inside. Probably support structures and dividers. I am assuming they use standard european hinges.
Thanks again.

Thanks jalexand. If you have pictures of the inside of the lockers that would be helpful.

I just got images like what has been posted. I'll get pics of the insides next weekend. I didn't see anyway that mine came out. They feel very permanent.

I saw one side (not sure if it was P or S) of the original woodwork for the aft stateroom at Bacons in Annapolis 2 years ago. It might still be there.

Hi there...we just purchased our 43 and finalized everything in June. I too am looking for the divider for the aft cabin or a template. We are located in the NJ/Long Island Sound area. Thanks in advance.

I too have the owners version of the DS43 with the Queen bed in back but no dividers. This year we raced the Port Huron to Mackinac race across Lake Huron and I created a divider for the aft cabins so I could stack more crew in the back. I made a template out of foam core and cut it out of 3/4 marine plywood. It just slid into place and it was just perfect for heavy weather sailing.

Same here. There are times when it would have advantages to spit the aft cabin.
Alas, in Greece, trying to buy foam and make templates is not that easy in the islands. If anyone has schematics with lengths/angles from such a set of templates they've made I and no doubt others would be grateful to receive details.
