Hi my shore power battery charger seems to have failed but I do not know where it is located, I have looked behind the main switch panel but it is not there. Help to locate it would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi You will find the charger in the rear cabin. Remove the bedding, lift the flooring which will be the equivalent to the bottom of the bed. There are several narrow pieces of flooring. You should then see the charger. Also in that area is the first fuel filter. This is where it is on my OS 32. Hope that helps, Ken

Thanks Ken. I know where the 1st fuel filter is so I will look around that area in the aft cabin.

Hi Ken
Found the charger in the position you said. Out of interest it is a sterling pro 30AMP, it is completely blown. I have had the boat 5 years and the boat is 10 years old. I think the charger is the original so can't really complain.
Thanks again

Hi again I do not think it is the original charger. Mine is a French model Cristec CPS 300. My So 32 was built in 2004 and I think it was the original. Regards Ken

My Cristec charger blew all three 20amp output fuses a while ago when plugged in to shore power! The problem turned out to be high resistance in the output leads connections. The connections looked fine and tight but splitting, cleaning and reinstalling solved the problem.

Hi
Having looked at the different specs, I am now thinking of replacing my blown Sterling charger with the Cristec YPower 25amp. The spec states that the Cristec will cover battery banks of 200 - 300Amps. Which will cover my 200Amp bank. It is also a smaller unit than the new Sterling model which means it should fit back into the same space.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

I know this is an old thread (but so are many of our boats). I have a 2004 43ds but my Cristec cps 600 seems to have given up the ghost. It looks like it is a waste of time and money getting a replacement Cristec. I already emailed Cristec , asking what their apropriate model would be because i dont think they make my model anymore. No reply. if i still get no reply in the next 2 days i will go for a Victron to handle my 4 x 110Ah Victron AGM plus 1 x 80 Ah Victron AGM starter battery . Cristec RIP.
