What is you Motion Comfort Ratio ?

Motion Comfort Ratio was developed by Boat Designer Ted Brewer. The formula predicts the speed of the upward and downward motion of the boat as it encounters waves and swells. The faster the motion the more uncomfortable the passengers. Thus, the formula predicts the overall comfort of a boat when it is underway. Higher values denote a more comfortable ride. As the Displacement increases the motion comfort ratio will increase. As the length and beam increases the motion comfort ratio will decrease.

Since then, this formula is shown to be not always correct. Including comments as such.by the creator of the formula.

You are probably correct.

Reality is this. I can increase displacement by say 500 lbs...I've increased stability per say.....maybe. if it is in the keel. But if I add said 500 lbs to the mast or near the top, I've in the end hurt the overall ability of the boat to handle some conditions.

So in the end, it is a good formula from a well designed boat standpoint, but like many formulas, one can do what shows to be better, but in reality it makes the boat in this case worst. Much like the IOR race formula a few years back.
