Hello,
I purchased a Jeanneau 43DS a few months ago. I have owned many sailboats in my time and am enjoying this boat a great deal.
Does anyone know how the heck to get a radar/chart plotter mounted at the helm. The Whitlock instrument panel isn''t deep enough to fit any chart plotters. I have all ray marine equipment so tried to add a C70/80 radar/chart plotter at the helm but it is 3.5" deep and the mounting area will not accept it.
Has anyone run in to this issue?

Have you looked at the Navpod range of aftermarket pods ? - they include 1" brackets that can bolt to your existing Whitlock system Details at: www.oceanequipment.com/products/navpod/Hope this helps

Thanks. I have looked at them. I will have to use that if there is not alternative.
I was wondering if there might be a replacement/upgrade for the existing instrument pannel at the helm that could accept raymarine C70/C80's or the older RL70C's.

I have a 43DS as well. Are you sure its a Whitlock and not a Goiot pedestal, the latter is the standard one on the 43DS. Anyway, I had the same problem when installing an RL70C. We just cut a hole in the underside of the pedestal and after installing covered it up. Also, there seems to be an adapted pedestal around which they install now on the 43DS and is deep enough for installing the C70/80.

I had the very same problem whith my 2002, 43DS. The dealer installed a navpod, but the angle was wrong, you had to be seated to see the screen. My dealer built a frame with the white plastic board commonly in use and mounted the screen in it. It is really good!!! I seem to remember speaking with Paul Fenn, President of Jeanneau America and I think his office may have this available or something similar.

I have an 03 43DS. When the boat was commissioned, they told me that in order to install the color Raymarine plotter at the helm, they would need to fabricate a bezel (their words) so that they would have sufficient depth in the pedestal, and so that the display would be held at the proper angle. I decided at the time to use the b&w RL at the helm as a repeater for the RLC70 at the station below decks. I am thinking of switching the units though, and toying with the idea of getting a hunk of Starboard(tm) and fashioning the sort of bezel they described.
