Those are some impressive pictures indeed - I wonder why they felt the need to leave in conditions like that?

As usual, what's impressive about those shots is how relatively easily a substantial glass keel boat deals with a crazy request like that bar crossing. Sure they lost the engine but notice how despite the loads the boat suffered (basically the front 2/3rds of the hull dropped several feet) there don't appear to be any integrity problems and indeed they're getting under sail, rigging intact and in use. Upright and in one piece. Keel is good, glass is good. Bimini is a slightly different story; remodeled instantly into a "streamliner."

Those shots are a couple of years old IIRC. But like a lot of things. they keep coming back, and back, and back....
I seem to recall seeing a video of the trip too.
Kinda like the Energizer bunny.....
