This is a "upgrade" or maybe "downgrade" that some may find interesting, but I appreciate may not suit all. On our 39i the standard table in the dinette works OK when we have several people aboard, but quite often when we a cruising we like to either eat outside (subject to weather - and now we have a full enclosure on our Bimini hopefully more often) so we were finding that having a permanent full table was tending to get in the way, both when we have pre/post-dinner drinks with several guests and when there are just the 2 of us aboard and we want to read or watch DVDs etc - so as the main table was simply fitted by 2 poles opted to buy a new smaller table top (the one we used from Marine Teak has a compass rose and also folds) - I also purchased another alloy table base from Sea Ventures to connect the new table, then put in s/s stud inserts in the floor, so that the base can be easily removed to make a flush floor. (the standard one is screwed in with wood screws) Really pleased with the outcome as it really has opened the boat up - but is large enough for 2 people to eat from, also means that gaining access to the berth storage and lockers is also much easier. I bought the s/s inserts from www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280700183974?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT When we need to put the original table top back (which I now keep in a sailbag) it takes less than 5 mins to screw on the floorbase plate. Sorry photos not too great as taken on my phone..)

Wow , good idea Malcolm , really. Will have to look into to that. Maybe have the small table swingable/turnable in order to make the seat-storage even more accessible so there's no need for a foldable table. But just curious though ,...how much was it for the new table ?

Hi Sailbleu The table was this the "reverse" version of this one: www.marineteak.co.uk/nautic-star-circle-616-p.aspThey will deliver worldwide for £25 flat rate and give 10% off for jeanneau owners: jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/2967/discount-on-teak-tablesso for me in UK was £233 inc tax and postage The table was not varnished, but is very well made - I did the varnishing, the only thing I found a bit of an issue was that the varnish would not dry easily on the black sikaflex bedding compound for ages - still was tacky to the touch, but I think is now all OK Very happy with both the value and the quality ( esp as when we bought the boat we also opted for the Jeanneau OEM extra table leaf - which is just a rubbish piece of ply and I think cost about the same..) Malcolm , don't get me wrong , it's a very nice table , but the only thing I would be missing is the upstanding edge to prevent stuff from sliding off. But perhaps a good quality anti-slip mat would do the job.

That's interesting to see that they are more expensive in the UK than Sweden (that must be a first). I have the Nautic Star wing in the cockpit

Nice conversion, Malcolm We took the easy route on our 39i and simply removed the starboard leaf. Left room for four to eat, but now lets the skipper relax on the starboard sofa with his feet up on the port one. On a related topic, we have the wooden table in the cockpit which, when open, was far too wide. Took 1 1/2 inches off both leaves. Much better. NornaJ

NornaJ Hi NornaJ Sounds like you have the newer "39i Step" model made post 2009? these had the leaf style tables and also I think better quality joinery on door frames etc. On the 2007-2008 boats, like ours the main table was a simple oval on 2 pole mountings - with the "optional" leaf which was supposed to clip onto 2 extending horizontal poles - horrid contraption, which we have only used a few times if trying to get more than 6 people sitting around the table for a meal Our cockpit table is all fibreglass, including the leaves and agree rather too wide - have to be careful when opening - especially when wearing shorts or can find your legs are shaved... the teak ones I think were an upgrade option - but do look much smarter Malcolm

I have the Nautic Star wing in the cockpit I think the actual supplier is a Swedish company with an Indonesian base - so that probably explains it: www.eudemarine.com/web/about/They make some positive claims about the teak being sustainable - I do hope that is correct, but there may still be an environmentalimpact in Indonesia I suspect

Yes, I realised that they were "Swedish" It's got me thinking about my cockpit table. When I bought it (80cm NS wing) I had screwed up my understanding of my measurements of the original J table and the mounts. As a result the table is only sits 2.5cm longer than the table mounts, so my cockpit table had shrunk That was fine at first but it made it cramped for mounting the e7 MFD under the table, so it sticks out from under the table and therefore gets caught by the sheets when tacking. I'm surprised I have never ripped it off although I did rip it off wen I fell and break my knee. I think I will replace it with the 100cm version. Just been in the cockpit checking the impact of the extra 20cm and it's acceptable.

But there are some different qualities of anti-slip mas for sale , twice I bought some at Boat Dusseldorf , not that cheap , but ever so good. Never was able to trace it back on the net though , and driving 600km on and off every januari for just some anti-slip is far fetched no . Last summer I bought a teak cupholder , it can hold 6 cups/glasses , in combo with an anti-slip it's just great. No more coffee , wine or coke ( as in coca-cola)) on the seats. Wish I could find that high quality (fairly expensive) mat again , suggestions are welcome. Regards
