Hello,
first of all I would like to apologize if my English is not so perfect! Soon I will be a new Sun Odyssey 33i owner as a lift keel version.
I´m going to order it during the next weeks. I have searched in many forums, trying to get informations about the SO33i Lift keel. Unfortunately, there are verry less Info´s of a lift keel version.
Now I have found this forum and I am glad that there are many Jeanneau Owners.
Perhaps also an owner of a SO33i Lift Keel version? I would be very happy if you could tell me your experience about this ship.
Many thanks and best regards
Peter

from Germany..Hello I have a 33i lift keel ,I have been sailing it since January 2013. Have done severel thousand miles with it. Very nice boat though this is the biggest boat I have owned to date. So I am no expert. Often I sail with keel up , I can not see the difference with or without most of the time. I have no regrets. Regards Ertan

Hi Ertan,
Thanks for your reply and I am glad that there are other owners of a SO33i with Lift Keel here! What are your experiences when maneuvering in port, if it is windy times?
Does it help you if the keel ist down and are you feeling save during the maneuver?
My SO33i is delivered to the Baltic Sea in December. I hope we will not get a long winter in northern Germany and I can take my first cruise soon in 2015.
Thanks and regards, Peter

I have to talk with my Dealer A nice red ribbon would have been nice! The wrapping will be removed because I want to take a look inside the SO33i next week! And it might be better for good ventilation during the next month.

Thanks and regards, Peter Hello Peter, I park mine in a marina , when it is very windy , speed is very important otherwise wind will make the boat move very quickly, so faster the better , lots of fenders . I also have a Hydrovane fitted in my boat , if it is really windy , I use that too. Boat is also used all year around, so I guess practice brings confidence. Also there are times in tight harbours against tide and wind going backwards is much better than forwards, you might find it easier. I can also recommend if it looks like a lot of boats moving around best to stay away until less traffic . Till you get speed you have no steering. Hope this helps. Ertan

Hello, Ertan,
many thanks for your tips!
My previous boat was a Southerly 28 with lift Keel (0,8m-1,45). With the Southerly I could go not at all backwards, because the wheel effect was very extreme. Also with a lot of wind it´s moved off very fast.
So I will have to practice also with the So33i a lot, until I got a feeling for the ship. It can only become better!
In March she goes for the first time to water and then I will experience it!
Thanks and many greetings
Peter
