We are considering changing out the Jabsco toilets on our 45DS. We change will be like for like as the cost of parts compared to the cost of a complete unit is similar. The question is are the nuts that hold the toilets in place moulded in to the plastic or will nuts fall in the the bilges? I have taken a look at the forward heads and the nuts seem to be moulded in. Help please.

We removed both head at one time or another for replacement (forward manual for electric) and aft for repairs. Mine were both installed with late bolts into the fiberglass. I changed both molded in below thread inserts with large washers and they are not securely bolted in. I wish I had a picture, but that would mean pulling a head out...not going to happen.

On my 2004 SO32 the loo was held in place by stainless dome headed self tapping bolts. Easy job just remember and replace the hoses at the same time. Be prepared for a lot of the eggshell like deposit from the discharge pipe which is formed by Uric acid mixing with sea water. Its what actually causes the heads to smell. There will be masses of it. Cut off the hoses from seacocks and have a supply of boiling water in a good container to soften the hoses to get the new ones on again. Took me about 2 hours and most of that was contortions trying to snip the plastic ties holding the anti syphon loop off the bulkhead in the cupboard under the sink.

Brent, how did you get to the bolts in the aft heads? It looks like I need to strip out the navigators seat!
