Has anyone installed a "Arch in a box" from Atlantic Towers on a 43DS? Or any Jeanneau for that matter.
Thanks Scott

Not an "Arch in a Box", but one from Kato Marine. I think they are great. Only changes would be to add more stub tubes, to support more equipment, and change the installation of my crane hoist so that it can be used both inside and outside the arch. If you are near Annapolis, Kato is really great.

sailingsouth, My name is Mike Kurzynowski and I am the digital media manager here at Atlantic Towers. While we have not installed one of our “Tower In A Box” Arches on your specific model Jeanneau if you visit our photofinder at www.atlantictowers.com/photofinder.php you can view installations on other Jeanneau models. While the “Tower In A Box” arch is not a one piece custom unit, it is designed to be every bit as strong as a one piece unit, durable, good looking, and provides an easy DIY installation. There are no give ups with a “Tower In A Box” structure. Plus it starts at less than1/3 the cost of most custom arches. The arch for your boat comes in four dimensional size ranges and you can either mount your arch on your deck or move it further aft so the rear legs are mounted on the slope of your transom. If your width requirements do not fit into our standard size ranges, for a small upcharge we also offer extra wide arches tailored to your needs. Commenter RXC mentioned that he wished there were more stubs to support additional equipment on his Kato Marine Arch. With our “Tower In A Box” arches that is never an issue. We offer a full line of parts and accessories that can be clamped or bolted to your structure as you accumulate equipment. You can view our accessory options here: store.atlantictowers.com/Sail-Arch-Accessories-s/1838.htm. Overall, our “Tower In A Box” arches are a great value for their cost, are made in the USA, and offer a five year warranty. For a second opinion, here's a link to an article Wally Moran from Sail Magazine did on our Sailboat Arches: www.sailmagazine.com/archHope this Helps! Mike-

Thanks Mike, How do you think your towers would fit on a (newly released) 349?

J349er,
The uniqueness of the “Tower In A Box” system is that it can mount in number of ways depending on your intended use. Similar to my above comment regarding sailingsouth's 43DS, on the 349 the arch can either be mounted with all four legs on the deck or with the two rear legs mounted on the transom.
Frequently the installation location is dictated by the deck hardware and ease of access when through bolting and installing backing plates . However, in looking at a number of photos of your 349 it appears that in either case installing backing plates does not seem to be an issue. Just note that that may not be the case since I cannot see what the mounting locations look like below deck.
You should also take the equipment you plan on adding to the arch into account. Are you lifting a tender? Will having the arch mounted with all four legs on deck extend it back far enough to clear your transom gate when folded down or will you need to add Davit Extensions? If the arch is mounted completely on deck will it clear your boom? Personally I would mount the arch so that the rear legs are located on the transom. To me it seems like that would extend the arch far enough back to clear the transom gate when lifting a tender without the need for additional davit extensions.
An Atlantic Towers " Tower in a Box" Sail arch can be easily assembled and mounted to your 349.
Hope we can help you,
Mike-

Very good info and thanks for your suggestions. I think it will probably be a good thing to consult with one of your installers in Annapolis (if any) to take a look at the 349 first hand.

I installed a Tower in a box on our 43 DS over the weekend. Not too bad of a job and looks nice I think.

We had a custom arch with dinghy lift and solar panel support made by Tanner Mfg in Bellingham, Wa. Couldn't be more satisfied. Looks great on our 43DS "Toccata". Looking at the prices on "out of the box" units, we didn't pay any more, when we added the extras.
