While trying to free up blocks in the main boom I accidently pulled through and 'lost' the main sail outhaul. I have two questions
1) Anybody have an easy way of fishing an 8mm rope through a SO32 boom? I will try an electrician fish-wire tomorrow but someone on there may have a solution.
2) Anybody recommend a way of keeping the boom blocks turning?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

Not sure if you can adapt this idea in some way.
I wanted to get a coaxial cable through a 1/2" water pipe so that we could bury the cable and protective water pipe across the lawn.
The solution was to make up a measured length of fish line, 25kg breaking strain, on a thin rod, feed the start of the fishing line in to the pipe and suck the fishing line through the water pipe with a vacuum cleaner. This work worked over a 15m piece of water pipe. I was surpised how easy the whole procedure was.
Can you get a fishing line through the boom using the same method, feed a mousing line through the boom and then attach the mousing line to the outhaul and pull through? I've never done this but it may work.

Fishtape that electricians use worked for me! Anything in reality that is strong, that will not bend that can fish a light line thru to pull the new bigger line thru will work!
OR, if the boom is small and light enough, take it off, the let the line drop thru the boom from a vertical position.

Hi Marty
Your correct and right.
What I had not realised is that in pulling the line from end of the boom to the mast side of boom I still had a stopper knot which stopped the line from coming out completely at the mast side. In my confusion to free the sheaves (at boom end)I must have open the knot removed the line from the pully, retied the knot not thinking about the big hole at the end of the boom.
I removed the pin at the boom and used the main halyard to lift the mast side of the boom up at an angle of 60 degrees while dropping the boom end down and pushed the line back down using gravity. Outhaul reappeared.
Thanks for everyones help.
