What is the best adhesive for fixing headliners to the hull. The headliner on my Jeanneau 36 has sagged.

I have used contact adhesive (yellow) but noticed that the loose lining has a black compound with a grainy texture where is has dried and come adrift. So contact adhesive is not original compound used on our 2001 SO 45.2 but works well. SY Verve

If it had a foam backing......NOTHING! Yes that is correct. time to redo the lining completely, then contact cement works fine. But can be a bit smelly in the cabin etc.

Please post if you find the right adhesive as the lining in the forward cabin in my Sun Odyssey 35 is detaching i was just going to try some ordinary glue

the side liners - foam started coming loose in the carib -- a lot of humidity there -- i used some 4200 for a couple of places and it worked but not what i would recommend
a guy at jeanneau usa suggested looking into one of the top end car makers such as mercedes or volvo or bmw and see what they use in their trunks -- i was never in the usa long enough to look into it - but kinda makes sense
good luck let us know as now in the med with the cold and mosture in the boat - cold hull with warm inside took a toll on the rest of it and i will have to replace the liner in the forward berth

I agree with Marty. The problem of the sagging is caused by degraded foam backing. The stuff gets brittle over time and comes loose. It's a shame so many boats have this problem. Dirty job to solve nicely as you need to remove all foam remains from the hull sides and then redo. The old panels can be used as templates.
