Dear Members of the Parish
I wonder if someone out there could advise....
I wish to pick out and refresh the sealer between my keel and the fiberglass hull. Would anyone know if there is a particular type of sealer that I should use? I've looked around the local chandlers... but can't find anything.
As always.... many thanks
Ian

Hi Ian
I have always liked Sikaflex 292 for underwater jobs - it is very sticky so should adhere well.

Right on Malcolm .
Ian , I have used the same sealer (sikaflex) on my keel/hull joint ,.........3 years ago , still going strong. Before that I have tried Tec7 , no good , it came off after one season. Nevertheless Tec7 is ok ,from my own experience anyway , but it needs to be sandwiched.

I confirm Malcolm´s and Sailblue´s choice: sikaflex 292.
However, for optimal adhesion, do "invest" in a bottle of Sika-primer, whatever you sikaflex. It comes in a aluminium bottle.
It is a siruppy, virtually clear, but not cheap liquid that you apply on the prepared (degreased and cleaned) surface with a brush. Leave to dry for minimal 30 minutes and then apply your sikaflex.
