I just picked up my 1997 36.2. I knew that the sails were in poor shape when I purchased her so new sails were in the cards at the start. The question I have is what size genoa do I buy? Anyone whom sails a 36.2 or there abouts, if you would be so kind as to let me know what size jib you have, normal winds you sail in and if you feel over or under powered.
Thanks
Mark

We've got a SF35 and have a 140% genoa. Upwind it's good to about 13knots and then it starts to become overpowered. Off wind however you really appreciate the size and can carry it comfortably on the beam in anything up to about 25-30knots.

For what it's worth, I sail a SO35 in San Francisco Bay. Winds in summer are typically 25+ kts. With the 130% Genoa that came with the boat, she was well overpowered in these conditions. I recently purchased a Soft Norlam 100% jib from North Sails. This jib is a big improvement and have sailed unfurled in constant 30+ kt winds albeit with a reefed or no main.
