Jeanneau SO 37 : Saloon table conversion to double berth

Hi,

can anyone tell me how to convert the main cabin seating area to a double berth in the SO 37.

Is there a "kit" for this (ex: pair of adjustable table bars) ?

As I see it your table setup is similar to mine , so I'll tell you what I did.
First of all , those adjustable table bars, legs you refer to are very very expensive. Not sure if they overlap the hight of the table (as it should be) and the drop to where the table is on the same level as the benches to make the bed
But I just used a plastic pipe ( the PVC construction type) and made a long axial cut , a sort of extended V-shape at both ends , heated the ends up with a hotair blower and when the plastic got soft I squeezed it into the original leg holder and waited some time to have it cooled down..Afterwards I reinforced the inside of the cone-shape by glueing some plastic strips along the cut. Creating the perfect cone shape is somewhat of a trial and error thing . But after all , those plastic pipes come very cheap no ? Dont forget to apply some silicone inside the holders , that way you get the shaped plastic pipe easily out again.
Not sure if you get where I'm going to , but maybe I'll take a few pics in the afternoon .
Up to now this sollution has worked sofar but you definitely need some non-skid material on top of the table to prevent the cushions to slide away.
This bed is used for 2 adults you know , but to be safe you need some extra supports on the outside edges of the table to make sure the table doesn't crack when you get out of bed . I intend to add those removable supports this year. I guess the same type of plastic construction pipe will do the job.

Hi Sailbleu, thank you very much for your answer !  I only saw it today (!!!) but I think I understand what you did, you created a short version of the table foots and when you intend to use the table as a bed you replace them. Right ?


I am trying to look to something more easy to use.. the adjustable feet are really that expensive ??  Haven't checked yet.

I forgot all about this topic and I'll try and take some pictures this afternoon or tomorrow to give you an idea how it's works.
Rather primitive , but effective and for free so to speak. You see , it was a last minute job a few years ago and we're still using it. The plan was to make a proper pipe in S/S or alu , but up to now I never got around to it.
It can take 2 persones , but it's best to support the edge of the table in different places aswell , I will be doing that before we leave this year , because there's alot of strain on the edge when you step out of bed. The table might crack.

if you would find affordable alternatives like adjustable leg , please let us know.
At the time I was checking prices , they where rather outrageous.

As I said earlier , very simple , ver primitive but also very effective.
I'm not sure there are adjustable table legs that can cover the required high AND low level.

Why not use the original Jeanneau sollution. Then you don't use the table legs but two bars which slide into the side of the settee and on the front a wooden board that you slide on both sides in a recess.

Could you please send us a photo of the original Jeanneau solution. My so35 (different but similar) has those bar sliding slots but i can not figure how to do what...

Sorry I don't have any photo of it. Underneath the table top there are 2 sliding bars. You slide them out and stick them in the 2 slots in the front of the settee. Of course first remove the 2 table legs. The front, the port side of the table top, rests on a board. This board is probably stored somewhere on the boat. You need to slide this in first in the slots on both outer sides of the U shape of the settee.

So in fact it is very simple if the table has this option.

I found another topic on the forum. Search for "configuring a double berth". It show a configuration on an SO35 which seems to differ from the sliding bars solution.

Thanks marien. In fact it is all there for so35. jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/1151/configuring-double-berth. Ok back to so37 now....

The SO37 setup will be the same as my SO40, probably.

On each side there are two of these U mounts which allows me to span the gap with 2 wood beams which the table rests on.

I cannot remember if the beams are flus with the top of the seat or not, but there is a cutaway to help mount it

I'm looking at my set up and can't get the legs to pull out from the bottom of the table. Just before I resort to force, these should just pull out right?

Hi, yes it's just force... wouldn't say "brute" but persistent .
