Does anyone know if the bow thruster batteries on the 409 are charged by the battery charger or only via the alternator?

Certainly on a 42DS they are charged by both and I would be very surprised if the 409 were any different.

Does anyone know if the bow thruster batteries on the 409 are charged by the battery charger or only via the alternator? That all depends what charger you have , single exit or multiple. In general a multiple is installed. If in doubt , check it out . You could do that by connecting a voltmeter to the bow thruster battery and switch on the charger. When the voltage rises you're ok I guess. Regards

I have a 409 and have not yet found a way to charge from the charger. The battery only charges when the engine is running and the bow thruster switch activated. Once the bow thruster switch deactivates, normally about 10 mins or if you switch it off manually, the battery stops charging even though the engine is still running. If the voltage is low on the volt meter I quite often keep switching the thrusters to on while I am motoring to make sure the battery is fully charged
