What is the size of the std. 3 blade fixed prop on the SO409 and, has anyone retrofitted a maxprop - comments!

Being as you are in the US, You can call PYI in Lynnwood Washington and get the size you need from them. You will need to know boat type, style etc. Then motor brand, hp and rpm. They then can tell you which size 3 blade max prop you will need.
There is also a pretty good article in the october issue of sail with plus and minus of the different types of props.
I do have a max prop personally. I have to agree with the comments regarding this prop re very little prop walk when going into reverse. Mine is also a 2 blade on a 6500 lb 28' on deck boat.....but know many with mp's on varies and sundry boat sizes, all seem to like them. THey are on the heavier side, so they do seem to burn a bit more fuel than a fixed or some of the lighter folding props.
