I thought it would be worth opening this up as a new thread
I own a 1985 Fantasia, with the cast iron fin keel. I have no known osmosis but am considering soda blasting the AF off and fairing as required. My first question is how to get around the cradle contact area and keel bottom supports. Using the travlelift for as long as this job would take would seem very expensive. How have other Fantasia owners coped with this issue?Dejavu.

Hi welcome to the forum
I presume you are doing this yourself? Many yards prohibit Owners moving the props on boat cradles as there have been so many accidents, so you need to liaise with them really, unless it is not in a yard.
One option would be to place additional mobile props, so that those can be used whilst you clean under each pad, but do take care as boats obey the laws of gravity....
The bottom of the keel is always a problem, sometimes the yard will leave a boat on large wooden blocks, so that you get at least partial access then the last bit of contact is cleaned and painted just before launch

Thx.Malcom for creating new thread. The boat is in a yard/meadow. The soda blasting would be contracted out. The boat now sits on the factory original cradle. This cradle has wide boat profile supports running athwartships. Also the keel rests in a steel channel, part of the total steel cradle supplied with the boat. Following your suggestion I would have to buy 4 seperate boat supports, and lift my boat out of the cradle and reposistion on the new prop,s. Possibly using wood blocking under part of the keel. This would work but I guess I was looking for something easier/cheaper. Once this issue is resolved, then comes choice of products and technique to do the work. Dejavu.
