Hi, Climma compact 12 R EH was installed in my 40 DS. Of course it only works with shore power. I am quite happy with the cooling capacity but heating is not satisfactory at all I was told that it has a resistance system instead of a pump for heating. Is there anyone using the same equipment? Is it possible to increase the heating capacity without spending too much money Erkan

Well Erkan I find it strange they supplied you with a non-heating pump AC. I myself have a double working unit cold/heat for my 40Ds and wouldn't want it any other way. I have the impressing the heating capacity is higher than the cooling mode. In both cases sufficient for our boat. I guess you will have to add an electric blower unit , they come very cheap but will require shore power. If I where you I would consider an eberspacher or Webasto diesel water heater , this way you have a double possibility for heating the cabin or heating up the boiler while anchoring.

Heat pumps are not very effective if the water temperature is low and in such cases resistance could be more effective. I would check the wattage and that it is functioning well. As sailbleu indicated a quick and cheap solution would be an electric blower

Donrob ,
I must say , last year (2011) in Norway my heater worked very well. Remember , the average watertemp there is around 10° C if not less. Of course I also brought an electric blower and my Eberspacher chipped in occasionally. But as far as Erkan concerns , I think he sails in Turkish waters . So maybe a diesel hotair is OTT. The benifits of having a diesel water heater ( hot boilerwater remember ) however.
