I have a SO 44i which has a problem with the saloon lights. I have traced it to the small chrome push switch located on the mast support surround. This switch allows you to turn on/off the saloon lights from either this switch or the one at the bottom of the saloon steps (A bit like on your stairs at home). My problem is how to remove the wooden surround to allow me to fit a new switch. The surround runs from the roof of the saloon to the floor and is a 'U' section with the switch fitted half way up. Any help in how to remove the surround would be much appreciated.

Can't help directly, but looks like the 57 has the same type of switch? - see image attached. If so clearly this bulkhead can't be removed. If there is no rear access then - I suspect they may be pushed into a friction fit hole in the wood from the front? but look difficult to prize out without risking damage. Maybe the photo will encourage thoughts from others?

On my 44i you have to remove the floorboard below the mast surround. Then you pull the bottom up slightly on a shallow angle. There are 4-6 pressure catches that will pull away from the bulkhead. Be careful, the wire on the pushbutton switch is short. You can reach in and pull the female spade connectors off for service.

On our 45DS this surround seems to a simple friction fit between the deck and the head lining. When we reomve the flush fit panel, shown here, we need to be very careful that the mast surround dosen't come with it. We've had the mast surround at least 6" away from the bulkhead by mistake when removing the flush fit cover. If you have a cover and the clips are old, 5 years plus, you'll probably need new clips. I had to get mine from Clark and Carter - £20 for 10!!! Admin: Why do my photos end up upside down?

Hi Ian,
Your photos seem to be right way up on my iPad. I think this was discussed on another thread some time back and it seems to depend on what device you are using for viewing.

Ian,
Some web browsers don't use the orientation information inserted into the photo by your phone. If you simply hold your phone in a different orientation while taking the picture (i.e. put the top at the left instead of the right) things will look better.
Alternatively, you can import your pictures into your computer, rotate them if necessary, and then post them. Of course, if your camera software on your computer uses the orientation, it might fool you. Better to just hold the phone the other way when taking a picture.
