I have a 2010 44i and some of the lights in the saloon are not working. I have checked the bulbs and I would now like to remove the head lining to get at the wiring (An earth problem I think). Does anyone know how to do this?

If they are the round type with a chrome ring that has a small metal pin as a switch, they simply pull out. They are held in with a spring clip. This give access to the wires, which clip onto spade connectors. There has been a fault with some of these type of light fittings (the ones with small pin switches) and the Jeanneau dealer I bought my boat from replaced some of them f.o.c. They are hellish expensive to replace if bought through Jeanneau dealer. I eventually bought some identical ones on-line. I will try and dig out the address if you are interested.

Hi Seagem, Thanks for the reply. The lights I have do not have the switch, they are connected in two banks of three lights operated by a switch. If you could find where you bought your replacement ones that would be very much appreciated. If like me you have the small reading lights with the pin switch and have a problem with the switch, you can get them in Maplins. Thanks again.

Hi rightwayup, My lights are obviously different to yours as mine are all individually switched. I cannot find where I bought them as the receipt is on the boat but they are called Nova chrome halogen recessed downlights. I found some photographs of them on a web site www.excelvwcampervans.co.uk and they were only £9.99 each. The Jeanneau dealer wanted £35.00 each!! I would still think that access to the wires would be by removing the lights rather than the headlining (a last resort surely) then you can test for continuity with a multimeter. Good luck!

Great source - I also found some on Google but they are £20 each For future info they are made in Sweden by Frilight www.frilight.se/halogencat.html

Hi There Experience from a 45DS 2008 You should have been issued with an L shaped handtool by whoever commissioned your boat which will allow you to prise off the headining from the secret clips. these are very fragile and easily broken/damaged - it can also be removed gently by hand starting from one short end. Once they have been damaged no choice but to replace to maintain integrity of fixing - the clip positions can be detected by gently running you finger over the surface of the headlining - you should find several 20mm approx indentations along the line of the clips
