Hi
I have a Jeanneau 32i fitted with a 3ym 21 horse power Yanmar engine and had no problems for the first year completing over 100hrs. However, since then i have had to replace 2 starter motors both showing signs of having stayed engaged after starting. The start switch has been tested and shown no fault and the stater motor drive looks good.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

I have had the same problem twice on my SO35/Yanmar 3YM30. First time 3 years ago; second time 2 days ago. The problem is caused by the starter switch staying on (not springing back). The switch looks fine but don't be fooled. I will be replacing both starter motor and switch (again !). (I was on the forum looking for advice on replacing the motor when I saw your message. Replacing the switch is easy.)

I have just experienced similar problems with the starter motor on my SO35 2007 with a Janmar 29 I have gone through 2 starter motors a starter relay and just recently the switch has been replaced. I now have the alternator out being tested as the rev counter is understating and the charging of the batteries intermittent Anyone had similar problems? Ian French Dun Laoghaire Ireland
