Does anybody have any experience with 29.2 with lifting keel? I am concerned how stable the boat would be in seas reaching force 7-8 and strong winds albeit she will be reefed down.

I have had lift keel boats in sizes from 21ft to my current SO35. I would not contemplate sailing keel up in an F7/8.
The windage and leeway would be awful.

Like FullCircle, I have a SO35 liftkeel and just had 2 days of sailing in 35-45knots with no adverse effects (except a little water in the bilge that I am trying to identify the source of) any ideas? We were well heeled on starboard tack for alot of the time and I am suspecting there might be some siphoning effect up the bilge pump pipes. ...

I have just bought a 2004 SO35 with lifting keel. How do you grease the lifting mechanism?

The following article by Full Circle www.jeanneau-owners.com/hintsandtips/SO35swingkeel.html has some drawings that may help - Jim may read this if not send him a PM - I am sure he will be able to give you a step by step guide on greasing

Hi Seabird i have owned a 29.2 lifting keel twin rudder version for two seasons now and have sailed in a variety of wind conditions. i have sailed downwind in 35 knots and that is exciting and relatively stable. Up wind in in a 7 is a little different although very stable she could benefit from a little more ballast to pull her through big the chop. it would be interested to hear any comments from an owner with a fin keel version. Overall i have been very pleased with the performance of my 29.2 and i am looking forward to trying out my new set of sails this season.

Hi Genoa i have the same problem with water in the bilge i have been trying to trace the cause unsuccessfully though. My initial thoughts were that water was leaking through the keel access hatch but this was ruled out by sticking soft paper around whilst healing after 2 hours the paper was still dry. the bilge water discharge is mounted just under the rubbing streak and i am not sure that this gets immersed when healed over. If you resolve this mystery please let me know.
