Greetings all! Searched and read but don't see a thread regarding my issue (I'm a guy so you could be right in front of me).
II have a 2015 Jeanneau 44DS and have been dealing with a problem on and off for the last year and a half. Bow thruster and chain counter will randomly not power up when I start the engine. Windlass works from the hand control in the forward chain locker. The problem has become more acute recently. I've checked fuses, replaced the relays (that I can find) and still no reliable outcome. i'm about to pull my hair out. I have no trouble docking the boat in light wind/current without the thruster but it's stressful in breezy conditions. Also having a chain counter and windlass controls at the helm is convenient as I single hand frequently.
Has anyone experienced this and resolved it? Perhaps a description and location of relays along the power chain beginning with the one that closes when the engine starts? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Chris

Regarding the chain counter - I had a similar problem. It turns out that I some rust/abrasion on the chain and the small metal filings were attracted to the small magnet glued to the bottom of the drum. This was enough interference to prevent the reed switch that counts the rotations to work correctly. Loosening and removing the drum and cleaning the magnet worked. At least for a while. Flushing water between the drum and winch bottom after use would probably help.

Thank you so much for your answer! This was an issue with the chain counter and bow thruster not powering up. I'll leave this post up but finally located a relay behind the alternator, changed it out and at least for now my system is working as it should! I'm knocking on wood as I type this. Lol
Thank you for your interest in my problem. Happy sailing!

I'm glad you got it sorted out and sorry for not completely reading your post before answering a question to a problem you didn't have
