I need to replace my fridge. The fridge compressor is fitted under the cooker and access is tricky at best. I’d like to remove the cooker and the panel under it and to the rear of it. Has anyone done this? It looks to me like there is an overlay panel to the right of the cooker and once that is removed I’m hoping allows the bottom panel to lift out.

Hi Super g, do you mean the complete fridge or just the evaporator unit and compressor? i did that this summer, and had no need to remove the cooker or the panel you mention. It’s easier with 2 but i managed it alone.

Just the compressor and plate. I’d like better access and I’m hoping the shelf under the cooker is easy to remove.

I did that by myself, but an extra pair of hands makes a lighter job. The cooker is easy to remove, but the shelf below isn’t. I removed the putty from the coolinglines in the coolingbox first. After disconnecting the pipework i tied a piece of string, before removing the copperlines, so to have a way to feed the new lines towards the compressor. When alone the biggest challenge is feeding the fairly long pipework and new plate back into the box without any sharp bends. A piece of ply over the sinks is helpful, as a worktable, and using the piece of string helps bring it all below. I made sure all was curled up and connected before screwing the new compressor down. Let me know if you’d like more.
