Hi, we sold our boat and had a 795 under contract but passed after the survey. Now thinking the 855 maybe 895 might be a better fit. We would keep it on a shelf. Would be cruising the Chesapeake Bay, possibly going further south in winter. Looking for tips from current owners on what to look out for, you know, the good the bad and the ugly! Thanks

Welcome! Besides all the typical and obvious boat stuff for engine, systems, accessories, fiberglass, standard/quality of any work done on her is water intrusion and glass. The 795 and 895 should have dry hulls. But most of them when new have some water leaks, typically fresh water from rain or wash down. Some owners just accept this. But having water always pooled in the hull can lead to mold/mildew or more serious problems over time. My 895 when new had several fresh water leaks. We eventually found and fixed all of them. This can be difficult. See separate thread and discussion in water leaks. For glass, I’ve know several reports of 795’s where cracks/breaks have happened. So make sure you do a close inspection looking for cracks including around fasteners. A cracked/broken glass on one of these boats can be difficult and expensive to repair. I seem to recall a thread on this subject too.
