Hi, I have an NC895 (2019). It has two 200HP Yamaha F200 XCA. I have never had a problem with the engines or the boat really until today. The last time I ran it was about a month ago and it was fine that day. Today I took it out of the harbour and gave it throttle to get up on plane, but it would not. I drove the RPMS slowly up to 2500...3000...3500...3800, and it was still only doing about 10mph and could not plane. I was getting the RPMs. I was definitely generating a fairly large wake, but getting no thrust. I even tried taking it up to 4500RPM and the result was similar. It was almost as if I was dragging an anchor or something really odd was at play.
I took the boat back to the dock, and raised the engines. Inspection of the props showed nothing interesting. I've had dinged props before on a boat and know what it feels like. These props were still smooth and had no indication that they were damaged.
My boat is in the Great Lakes. The hull has some minor slime on it, but nothing extreme. The props have very minor slime on them.
I'm looking for any clues anyone could provide -- what to look for on what could possibly be causing this type of issue. The batteries were fully charged, no warning indicators from any of the systems. Does anyone have any insight on where to look. I will check the bilge, but I doubt it has any water and even if it were full, the bilge itself doesn't seem large enough to hold enough water to have this kind of extreme effect on the boat's ability to propel forward.
Any ideas appreciated.
A couple additional notes:
The trim tabs seem to work fine. Usually pull the boat up on plane with them up and then bring the bow down, but even if I had the tabs down all the way and hit the throttle with 400HP I could still pull the boat up on plane.
It feels like there is some kind of hull obstruction that is causing this, but I'll have to take the boat out and jump in with a mask to inspect, or have it hauled out of the water for a deeper inspection. It is truly baffling to me, however. When I give it more throttle it generates more wake, but we have no additional thrust -- has anyone else ever experienced this?
