I have installed an electric toilet into my 'new to me' SO 37 and want to connect it to the Scheiber panel. I have purchased and installed the 12V expansion board, but can't figure out how to wire it up. The first image shows the outside of the panel with the new expansion board highlighted. The second image shows the back side of the expansion board. The third image shows how the other 12v connections are wired. It looks like there is a jumper between the two sections, perhaps for power? Nearly every wire is red, and there is no ground terminal block to be found. Any ideas on this? I have 3 more images I will try to get on the post that show two available 6 pin and 3 pin connector blocks that I am assuming would be used with the expansion panel. Any help would be much appreciated! -Greg

Hi, the reasoning for no ground/neg on the panel is that the breaker switches you are installing are just a ‘break’ in the positive cable for the circuit, closer to the hull at the back of the ‘electrics cabinate’ you should find positive and negative bus bars , perhaps under a cover, along with more electrical connections for the shore power …… so unplug the shore power.
Sure someone with the actual knowledge for adding the optional extra switchboard will be along soon.
Enjoy the voyage of discovery

Ah, that makes sense. I'll take a closer look for that negative bus bar. Thanks CB!

Many Jeanneau boats keep the A/C and DC neg busses separate. Make sure you are grounding to the proper neg. Big mistake I made once.

Puzzled by what you are trying to do? Are you trying to connect some level, current or voltage measuring sensor?
The connections you show are for the display unit and there are some spares on my similar 42DS unit to connect extra fuel and water tank sensors.
Are you actually just trying to connect to a spare switch on the panel to supply power and a trip? If so, the connection on my boat is on another panel close to the hull behind the Scheiber unit. I used the wiring diagram to trace the switch to a trip and then to a spare connection on that board to add a piece of kit.

Hello Greg,
If you are switching your new electric toilet, you will probably need to supply power to the toilet through a relay. The reason is the current drawn by an electric toilet is relatively high and probably too much to go directly through the switch.

Thank you for your response Mistroma, I am running a new electric toilet to the panel. I have installed an expansion panel that provides 3 more 12V 'switches'. Are you saying that the toilet power should go to the panel, and a positive wire from a terminal block will then go to the other side? I take it I will find a ground terminal block also behind the mass of wirings behind the panel and connect the toilet directly to that. Does this sound about right to you? trevor: Thanks for the tip. I'll look up the draw from the toilet and make sure it does not exceed the panel specs. It's the Jabsco LITE FLUSH (foolishly believed it would fit in the same spot as the manual version), and I believe it is fused for a max load of 25 amps. -Greg

I too have the expansion board installed on my so37 in 2007. From what I remember I basically copied the wiring from the existing boards. The two plugs need to go on the extension board. The three outlets are wired to a terminal block behind the instrument panel on the right.
On the other hand, the “brown” electronic fuses on the board can handle only 10 A max. So your toilet motor will need a helper relay to make this work.

I assume you are just trying to wire up to use a spare "aux" switch. I did that for an item on my boat. It was connected to the wiring board on the hull, not anywhere near the panel itself. The aux switches on my 42DS were already wired back to the panel with trips in place. I used the wiring diagram and just following the wires to work out where the trips were wired and connected up there for live side. Negative just went to common negative. I think my existing aux trip was only 10A and imagine yours will be similar. I'd agree that you need a relay if switching 25A from there. Don't try to connect to aux. switch unless you are really stuck. Trace the wires back and connect to existing trip, assuming it is similar to mine. Do you have a wiring diagram? You could check out this one for SO37, it shows Aux. switches already wired back to 10a trips (Page 4 Q & R). www.jeanneau-owners.com/Manuals/Sun%20Odyssey%2037%20and%20Sun%20Fast%2037%20electrics.pdf
