Our fuel tank sensor failed and shows the tank completely full all the time. Gauge is working since it is connected to a second tank and we have the readings from that, so I conclude it to be the sender. Does anyone know what kind of a sende this is? It doesn't match any of the ones I used or installed before.

Hello renaissance,
I think that looks like a VDO resistive sender. Resistive senders usually have two standards. They are either 0- 180 ohm or 30- 220ohm. Many other standards exist also. You could check the operation of everything except the sender by simply connecting those connection wires together. See the result. It may show empty or it may show full. The European standard has 0ohms(wires connected together or low resistance ) as empty whereby the USA standard has 0ohms as full. Either 180 or 220ohms is the opposite. You could get a 180ohm resistor from an electronics shop to connect between those two wires and see your gauge change.
It would be good to know this prior to buying a new one as to get the wrong one would be disappointing. I know it seems strange to have two standards that are the exact opposite but that is the case. Being a Jeanneau we could assume European standard but I wouldn’t count on it. You could check the sender on the other tank with a simple multimeter on the ohms ( resistance) range.
You will need to remove the sender and check the length of the sender to ensure the correct length is purchased.
Good luck with it.
Regards
Trevor

And once removed is likely to look like this, and the variable resistor is by the float arm, a curved strip of tiny segments on a white block. Some find that a light rub of the segment strip and the little arm that runs up and down it with very fine emery paper to improve its connection can bring it back to life , mine seems ripe for replacement. Whilst it is out of the tank I use a suction pump and tube to suck from the bottom of the tank just to see if there is muck or water building up, fortunately mine was lovely and clean …… it’s just nice to know. In Jeanneau's infinite wisdom ( ) the engineers decided that if that fuse blows it will show the fuel to be always full . I know , I know ..... how stupid is that !!! (Don't ask me how I figured this out - 2003 J43DS)
