Has anyone seen or got any pics info on davits or at home for a 2005 sun odyssey?

I haven’t got round to fitting davits on our 35, we store the dinghy horizontal on the stern which works ok , but feel davits could be tidier and easier. Perhaps davits on a 35 picture and an experience report will come along soon.

Hi Charlie,
What year is your boat, wondering if you have a photo of how you tie up your dink on the stern? We hate dragging ours and looking for an easy solution without spending money on davits.

She is a 2006.
Cant find any pics of the dinghy riding on the transom, if I come across one I’ll send it, below is my attempt at description.
I have two pad eyes screwed to the transom quite low down, I attach two 50 mm wide webbing straps to these, pass them under the floating dingy which is side on to the transom, and initially tie them to the push pit or pass them aboard to Mrs CB whilst I clamber on board, we then pull on the webbing and the dinghy rolls onto the transom step, no heavy lifting required. Launching just involves the reverse , lowering gently until afloat but still attached with both straps making outboard installation safe and easy. On Mk2 of our webbing straps I have sewn loops with snap buckles to attach around the push pit rails, but still tie the straps as well as I don’t fully trust the plastic buckles, and also tie off the painter to the push pit to stop the dinghy attempting to wriggle out of its straps.
Its cheap, easier than lifting it onto the boat, and not too much hassle.

Thank you, that description was easy to follow. I'm going to give it a go this summer. We can't put it on deck due to the baby-stay so this will be a better option than towing. 👍

Hi Charlie, .......We hate dragging ours and looking for an easy solution without spending money on davits. Snap Davitts are another solution there are several manufacturers that supply them and a quick Google search should bring up supplier's in your area and or online.

CB And that is a brilliant idea Charlie Bravo, I've recently completed my arch and don't fancy having the dingy mounted so high and was leaning towards the snap Davitts route but your idea is brilliant thanks for sharing.

I have also considered snap davits, a friend uses them on his livaboard yacht and thinks they are great, but he doesn’t sail with dinghy attached to them as his dinghy can catch a wave whilst heeled, and this puts me off them. It would seem the transom step mounts need to be quite low to attach the dinghy, I intend to examine my friends set up to see if it can be improved. I like the idea of not having traditional davits, just on aesthetics, and the snap davits would seem convenient, just would like the dinghy to be stowed higher , which my straps and D ring pad eyes achieve but without the convenience of just clipping on.
Weaver snaps seem expensive at £500, (wimpy) traditional davits 120 Kg from Force 4 at about £320 seem quite cheap, (plus additional diy push pit support I think) Proper sturdy davits at ££££, a luxury should the lottery pay out and would give a mount for more solar power.
Ill stick with the webbing straps until convinced, the research goes on, all part of making life easier each season.
