Now back onboard and counting the hours to our relaunch tomorrow. The boatyard has done most of the work to a high standard, but their electronics guy has now gone missing and he had only partially installed a new Vesper AIS. Can't find anyone who can help here in Alcudia, so now looking for recommations for someone perhaps in Menorca, Citudella or Mahon, any thoughts appreciated. Malcolm

Thanks Peter
The original guy cut off the Vesper data and power plug 😠. Think I have tracked down a good Raymarine technician in Mahon who can help. I have sent him the installation manual in English and Spanish and he thinks he can sort it. Won't be for a week or so as waiting for the winds to moderate before we leave Mallorca. I will update the thread when I have more news, and hopefully working AIS 🤞 Malcolm

Sorry to read that your install has gone a little pear shaped, and if your Ray tech chap fails to turn up, well , you know you will get step by step DIY instructions here, it's not rocket science, just a bit of a challenge sometimes.
My Vesper was tested last week, popped out for a sail but due to being the only boat on the water that day was feeling that the Vesper wasn't really showing very much. Re entering the marina, and approaching a narrow bit of channel the alarm went off !, no boats un moored in view , .... I ignored the alarm, ...... then a boat appeared from around the corner at the narrowest bit. OK not quite high seas adventure, but good to know it can see what I didn't! Sure yours will bring entertainment soon. CB

Thanks pbu and CB
It is the WatchMate XB 8000, hopefully I am on the way to a solution. Fairly frustrated that the original guy cut off the plug, leaving bare wires. I can solder and have an iron, but I know it is not my forte...
Hoping the Raymarine technician will get me sorted, but will ask for your advice of not...

Malcolm What Raymarine equipment has to be connected, is it STNG/NMEA2000?
The Vesper Power/Data cable originally is a 2 mtr cable with just ONE 10 pin plug and bare wires at the other end. To connect power, NMEA0183 data in/out, silent switch and alarm.

Well all fairly good news. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. The Raymarine technician tested everything, then had to rewire where the original guy had messed up the connections, to be fair though, the wiring diagram on the E80 installation guide, showed different colours to those in the harness.
So the AIS is working fine, targets can be seen on the E80, and Vesper app and my position is showing on vessel finder. Only issue now is that I can't get the AIS positions to show on my Navionics apps on my phone or tablet, despite checking that I have a valid subscription and targets are enabled in the Navionics settings. I have been in communication with Vesper support, they apparently have written guide to connect the Vesper XB to Navionics, but they have forgotten to actually send it me, and now I presume they are closed for Easter.
So any additional ideas would be welcome as we are heading to Sardinia on Saturday.
Thanks Malcolm
