I have a 2017 nc 795. I purchased bennett bolt1212 electric trim tabs. The size is perfect, but when I went to hold them up against the transom, I noticed the transom is slightly curved, so the mounting plate does not sit flush and is raised on both ends when sitting flat/flush in the center. For anyone that has installed tabs on their 795, how did you do it? Shims? Nylon washers on the outer screws maybe? I know a lot of you have tabs on your boats so theres gotta be a good way to do this.

Hi I would realy recommend to flaten out mounting area for your tabs. There are several threads with information on this site. If you search ”Trim tabs for Merry Fisher 795” you will find a lot of information. I mounted Bennett Bolt 1212 on my new 695 after inspiration from this site. First I drilled only three holes and used washers to chim out mountingplate to a good position. Counted the number of washes for each screw. Masked the area and put on epoxy paste an re-monted with the washers for position and access epoxy paste was squeezed out when I tightned the screws. I had covered the mounting plate with plastic so that I could remove it after hardening. Checking the result, had to add some more paste and then a bit of grinding and then I had a flat surface almost aligned with the hull/keel. If I would re-do this job I would have been more careful so the tabs were perfectly aligned with the hull, as for now mine are a little bit ”toe-out” sometimes causing a little bit of waterspray so be careful. It’s not just about making a flat surface, it’s also very important that you get the tabs aligned with the hull/waterflow. I would really recommend trim-tabs, I’m always very pleased that i did this job when out cruising. Good luck mf695
