Soooooo... I measured the clearance for the 55# Vulcan I planned to use to replace our 44# Delta. It looked fine. Roca even provides a life-size template you can construct to ensure it'll fit. So today we swap anchors... What I didn't realize is that the forward part of the two part roller is spring loaded and moves DOWN when there is weight on it. While the delta doesn't put weight on it in the stowed position, the Vulcan does. That means the tip of the anchor is 2" aft of the bow and only about 2" to starboard... not acceptable. Now I have to figure out 1) keep the Vulcan and modify the bow roller setup or 2) swap it out for the 44# which is smaller. Ah, what a pain. I'm thinking I can somehow limit the downward travel of the pivoting bow roller such that it keeps the tip of the Vulcan a few inches away from the bow. The second pic shows the bow roller moving down under the weight of the anchor. In the stowed position it stays down, as opposed to 'up' with the Delta.

We have the same anchor and we love it. Very good choice. We have a different bow roller set up on the 440, but I have never been perfectly happy with how it its. I'm looking at swapping out the rollers for a larger size. Not sure if that would cause issues with your furler, but it would give you a little more room away from the bow.
Warm regards, Chuck

We changed out the Delta for Rocna 25kg (55#) on our 2008 SO42DS, but also change out the anchor mounting plate to weld to the existing one and form a secure extension. This moves the anchor out about 4". We also added a bobstay. There's an article on this in Hints & Tips. linkThis has worked for us and never had a problem banging on the hull since.

Yes I’ve heard several people get their pivoting bow roller welded into a fixed position. I’ve never fully understood the benefit of the pivoting mechanism and if it’s positioned correctly I think a fixed roller should also work fine.

Thanks everyone! That welding-it-fixed trick sounds like the way to go! Shouldn't be that expensive either...

Perhaps this can help. I just replaced the delta with a 55lb Rocna and am still sorting out if I need this.
