I have not been here for a while - medical issues that started last summer, and the recovery has taken longer than I had hoped. But I am still doing some work on the boat, and in the process I broke something. It always happens - you fix one thing, but break 2 others in the process.
The item I broke was the connection into my main water tank from the watermaker. My watermaker has a dedicated fresh water discharge into the center (of three) water tanks on my boat. The water line was attached to one of those spare fittings on top of the tank that came from the factory sealed, but with a metallic threaded connector deep down into the hole. The plastic plug was drilled out and a small street elbow was threaded into the metallic fitting, and the line from the watermaker goes to that fitting.
Yesterday, I kicked that fitting, and it turned out to be just barely threaded into the tank. It will not engage again, and looking at it, the tank threads are different from the fitting. The threads are down deep into the tank and I don't know what they are - French, BSP, American NPT? Threaded or straight? I think I have found an old automotive oil pan drain plug that MIGHT be the right size, but would have to buy a bunch of different fittings to find the right one. I think it might be 16mm tapered.
Has anyone else figured out what is the size and thread configuration of those fittings in the top of the tank?
I will also send an email to M. Rigeaux at Jeanneau to see if he has any wisdom.
