This is what they installed as a set to my MF 795 ; Garmin GHP Compact Reactor40 Hyd Autopilot, Start Pack w/GHC20,w/Pump. It works perfect with Garmin chartplotter. Convenient for long journeys and navigation. Highly reliable and precise with maps provided by Garmin. Works with all old and new garmins. If you are using your boat only for shorter journeys around your base, you may really not need it. GHC20 is next to the Garmin Chartplotter on the dashboard and the reactor40 hydraulic pump is in the starboard locker compartment in the cockpit close to the galley. Mine is 1.0 liter pump. Probably 1.2 would be better for 200 hp. Actually the pump is where exactly hydraulic lines come out from the cabin and continue to the engine. There are many videos on installment on youtube but Garmin says a technician should install the system.

I just paid a visit to the agent who sold and installed my Garmins. He said that the factory is not producing 1.2 liter pump any more. İf this is the case, there is the 2 liter. But I would try to learn how would a 2 liter do in smaller boats. This agent of mine said something like 2 liter my cause some control problems. I will try to learn more from Garmin.

tnx just had a look at the back of the steering wheel hydraulics, looks as if it only has two ports ?? i would need a third port for the return from an electric pump do you have a pic of your wheel hydraulics ? this is the forward part of mine:

Is digital electric steering (DES) a better solution?

just had a chat with the mechanics at the local MF shop, they recommended a 2L pump for 150HP
hoses, i can see there is a T connector in one of the side lockers under the aft lid this enables an easy split for the pump, prepared for that job ?
anyway, obviously needs to be plumbed in R & L, or can the pump be switched over if not connected the right way round ? how to tell which hose is which .....

Apologies for slight thread drift, but.. for a newbie - When the autopilot is engaged, is it bad if the wheel is accidentally turned?

As far as I understand, a new autopilot system will resist to touch, and will disangage with a little pressure.
This one is how mine works; The Reactor 40 autopilot features patented Shadow Drive technology. This gives you the security of knowing you maintain control, even when the autopilot is engaged. The Shadow Drive system automatically disengages the autopilot if the helm is turned, giving you the freedom to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically re-engages when you hold a steady course.
