Morning all
The SO449 has a big heavy bathing platform on transom The hinge on the face of my platform has pulled away from the outside face Fortunately I did not loose the hinge into the deep
Does anyone know if there is a backing plate inside the bathing platform or is it just attached via a screw from the outside into solid glass edge of platform ?
Thanks Chris

Our 419 platform is probably very similar to yours, and our starboard strut attachment to the platform came loose. By pure accident I had some longer screws with the same thread and found that the original screws actually did not reach the embedded threads below inside the platform. The embedded threads felt pretty solid. The original screws were just too short and were holding on by some goop that was used in the assembly at the factory (Jeanneau Marion, SC factory - how can this be???) I used two of my longer screws and all has been fine since.

I have a 449. Are you referring to the two main hinges that join the platform to the hull? The nylon (?) bushes which are on the hinge shafts have worn on my 6 year old boat. Jeanneau will not sell the bushes but only a pair of new hinges including the bushes. Similar bushes sell for £2 each but Jeanneau want to sell only the whole assembly for approximately £560 including tax and shipping to UK….. pretty much extortion. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know where to source the correct size bushes? Does anyone know the exact size/spec of the bushes? Im currently cruising the Caribbean living in anchorages; it makes the platform one of the most important parts of the boat, launching and boarding the dinghy etc. It also makes it a major job to remove the platform just to be able to measure the bushes.
