I'm being quoted $2000 just for the part, not the labor. Does this sound reasonable?
Thank you.

Do you have a Yanmar part number for the item you are being quoted for? It will help

Hi Patricmo,
The price seems way too high... I paid around AUD350 for a Yanmar one a couple of years ago... Part only... It is really easy to replace also... no need for labour on top!
Cheers, Allegria

Hi
Seems far too high. The exhaust elbow is relatively easy to replace, don’t forget to order a new gasket There are several sources, exhaustelbow.com do a stainless version.
I’ll post an EU source as soon as I can check where I sourced a replacement a while ago.
Incidentally the original can be welded and kept as a spare.
Noel .

The Yanmar part for a 4JH3-HTE was AUD900 in 2018 so less than USD700. $2000 is way over the top.

Should have said that was for the "riser" / "elbow".

If this is the entire heat exchanger assembly then $2K sounds about right. I recently paid nearly $4K for a new heat exchanger on a 4JH4-TE from Yanmar (who's dealers are like an organized crime family in US)
