Sue & I have owned our 34 for 10 years! We keep it at Foss Harbor Marina in Tacoma, WA. We enjoy sailing the Salish Sea (Puget Sound in Wa State) and the San Juan Islands to the North. We are in the hunt to upgrade and have decided either a Sun Odyssey 49DS or 54DS is in our near future. We are looking to travel farther North in Canada (circumnavigate Vancouver Island) and on to SE Alaska. * UPDATE *. October 1st. We just cleared the survey on a 2005 Sun Odyssey 49 DS “Pommes Frites” out of Chicago!! it is an aft master stateroom well equipped Jeanneau! We are Excited! Now over the winter we need to find the right BIG truck to get her to Puget Sound in Washington State. when she gets here she will become Zig Zag. (With Neptunes blessing) if anyone knows of a reliable trucker……….please let us know. I’ve been trying to talk Admiral Sue into going out to the east coast and sailing the Northwest Passage next summer but shes not falling for it.

Thank you!! I'm finding great info on the board! I'm excited, I've been around Power and Sailboats my whole life. Big to Small, but yes this will be my biggest adventure yet!

Congratulations! There is an article in Pacific Yachting dated March 25, 2020 "Sailing the Northwest Passage, a Canadian couple's adventure from Quebec to BC". It is on line...I think trucking the boat is better. You would be doing too much Zig Zagging! I think most dealers will be very helpful with getting the right trucking company as they probably do this all the time. Eventually, I want to do the same....Vancouver, Alaska. I have to wait a few more years for that. Currently, in So Cal, but probably move to northern Idaho and keep the boat in Anacortes.
Best of Luck Abe

The BIG "U"
So since I posted here, we bought the 49DS in Chicago. We had it stored through the winter in Waukegan at Jeanneau Dealer, Larsen Marine.
In May we went from Seattle area to Waukegan and spent a week getting her in the water.
Her previous names were "Vanishing Point", "Naboo", and "Pommes Frites".
We gave sacrifice to Neptune and named her SV Zig Zag.
Trucking had come in at $40-45,000 to ship home so we decided to have an Adventure!
We set out Northbound on Lake Michigan and started the trip home. We stopped in 4-5 towns in Wisconsin, and the crossed Lk Michigan Eastbound to Michigan state. Continued North to the Mackinac Straights and Mackinac Island.
We swallowed a few bugs along the way. We continued Northbound through DeTour passage and then East in Canada's North Channell. We stopped in the Benjamin Islands which are breathtaking. We continued into Georgian Bay's 30,000 Islands and on down to Midland to drop the Mast.
We entered Canada's Trent Severn Waterway Eastbound across Canada above Toronto for 240 miles and 45 locks. It was spectacular, however we had to sign a waiver as our draft was over 5 feet, the max depths are 6', but our 5.5' dragged in the mud in many places and had hard hits in 2-3 spots along the way. If you can make it, I highly recommend the Waterway.
We ended up exiting into Lake Ontario near the entrance the St Lawrence River and the Thousand Islands between New York and Canada. Awesome
Next we entered the Oswego Canal headed to the Erie Canal. It's not as pretty as the Canadian one, but we had a great trip to the Hudson River, and the boat is winterized and on the hard in Kingston NY about 80 miles north of New York City.
Next year we will explore New England before starting the trip South via the Chesapeake and then offshore to the Bahamas. We figure another 2-3 seasons to get to Panama, and then 1-2 years to get her home to Seattle via Hawaii and Alaska.

Congratulations on the purchase and paying homage to Neptune. And well done on the trip, sounds like you had a fantastic passage and experience.
