I live in the PNW and I'm in the process of purchasing a Jeanneau for use on the Sound. I was able to step aboard a NC 895 and a 795 weekender, but I was not able to see an 895 Sport firsthand, which is the boat that initially caught my attention (I kayak and dive). My concern with the 895 Sport is the location of the galley; forward on the port side of the cabin, in front of the dinette, and behind the forward seat if turned aft toward the dining table. It appears to be chest high vice waist high. Do you have to turn the forward dinette bench seat around (as if for cruise) in order to access the galley? Are you looking down at the stove/sink or over at it? When cruising, is the person in the port bench seat seeing the galley or the view? The boat is for sport, but it should not lose basic functionality. I use the galley.
My first thought is that this is a disqualifier for the 895 Sport. But what do I know? Nothing. I'm in the process of finding one so I can step inside and take a look, but I would appreciate an owner's perspective.

If you are working with a sales person see if they have an owner that will let you check out their boat. I did that prior to placing an order for the 895 Sport as I was trying to decide on that or the Weekender. Assuming with your location you will likely be using the same dealership -Sundance.

Thank you! I am working with Sundance and we are doing as you suggest. I am in the spot you were; deciding between weekender and sport. May I ask your opinion on the cabin layout and why you decided on the Sport?

Access to the bow and the safety of ability to work the anchor without having to kneel on the bow was one issue. I will be single handed a lot of the time using the boat and the extra safety of access up front was important. Also for the same reason the extra head room in the forward cabin of the Weekender wasn't an issue. The 250HP motors were a plus and the fact that the 2022 Sports use electric steering making the addition of Helm Master a lot more practical also played a big factor. One downside is the lack of the microwave but unless you opt for the generator it can only be used while on shore power.
Good luck with your decision either way. I'm (very impatiently) still waiting for delivery which I'm hoping will be in the next several months.

I was not happy with the galley layout either but still ordered the Sport model. I am planning to add a microwave and a grill for use out back. If you put a granite top on the existing countertop it will be much more useful. The twin 250’s were a big factor for me also.

Thank you both for your comments. I'm encouraged. Now I just need to find one to step aboard and get a look myself. I like the Jeanneau. A lot of boat for the money. Cheers!
