Hello Everyone Thanks for letting me become a member of the Forum. We purchased a 2005 DS43 in January 2021 and have been enjoying her this summer in the nearby San Juan Islands of Washington State. She was formally known as "Kinvara" of Newport RI and was sailed extensively along the US East Coast by the original owners before being trucked to Bellingham WA in 2015. We previously sailed an old Columbia 36 ("Hejira") in Seattle for 25 years, eventually taking her to Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and ending up in Maine. After a long boat-less pause, it's great to be back in Seattle with our new-to-us DS43. We renamed her "Kendra Grace", and being fully off-shore equipped, well, maybe we'll take her back to Mexico in the near future.
Cheers to all, Dale

Hi Dale
You are most welcome. There are a lot of 43DS owners on here, so don't hesiste to ask if you have any questions.
Enjoy your beautiful boat.

Congrats Dale!
We also recently purchased a 43DS after being boat less for many years.... We're loving her.... Keeping her in Puerto Rico for now.
I have a question to the group:
As we get ready to enter the winter season and the Christmas Winds in the Caribbean and the northeaster's blowing down, I wanted to ask about your experiences in sailing the boat in sail configurations if caught in 30 to 45 knot winds.
Our boat has a 130 furling Genoa and a battened main that falls into a lazy jack bag.
What have you found to be the ideal sail configuration and how does she take it?
Would you recommend furling the Genoa completely and just sail with a reefed main?
So far, our experience with her has shown us that in 18knots and full sails she behaves very comfortably going into the wind, but haven't experienced higher winds yet....
Thanks for your input!
Enjoy her Dale!
Best, JJ
