Hey there, I am a newbie boater and just got a 2021 NC 895 i am trying to get the motors to lift out of the water when in moorage. Is there a special way to do this? I have slid the seat forward and have the motors trimmed up as far as it will allow me off the controls at the helm. I am sure it’s something simple that I am overlooking and hoping your experience can help me. Thanks.

They will not completely trim out of the water. The engines have a limit. Moving the seat will not change it. After my first year with an 895 i had the marina paint the lower unit with anti fouling paint. Its frustrating as i wanted to keep the engines clean and corrosion free.

Sorry should have clarified. I have seen pictures of the motors almost out of the water but mine are still fully in the water. It’s like they are hitting a stop and won’t go further. They are still so low that I didn’t need to move the seat to the forward position.

Figured it out. The trim selector switch was way out of adjustment. Fairly easy fix.

Also does the 2021 still have problems with the engine lines putting pressure on the steering hydraulics ? I still have half my props in the water. Even with anti fouling it’s not great.

I have a 2021 895 Sport with 2 Yamaha 250's. When fully tilted up the props are out of the water, but everything below (skeg and bullet) stay in the water.

I hope this may help. The tilt angle (in this case not the trim) of engines differs by model and make. Some engines may have 66 some have 85 degree tilt angles. There is a tilt adjustment switch. Probably it is called trailer adjustment switch. But this is not all to it. Because the factory or your dealer may have done a limited setting below the engine's maximum. This means you can lift your engine up with the switch and think that it is the maximum. But in reality you may have more lifting to go. In order to reach the engine's lifting maximum you have to change the preset setting first. This is done may be like pushing the up and down switches together for three seconds or may be something different. After reaching to your real maximum and if this is still not enough you can look for other solutions.

Hi all, We took delivery of our NC 895 in March, and oddly enough, our outboards DO NOT trim all the way up like other NC 895's at Sundance's marina. We have to spend additional $$ and warranty to have the brand-new outboards trim all the way out of the water. Why is this so Jeanneau?? Attached is a photo of other 895's and then ours on the right.

There is an ongoing problem for new boat commissioning for what work is to be done between jeanneau and their dealers. Who’s responsible for what is the question. From what I can tell jeanneau leaves it to the dealer to figure out what they need to do. At least this was my experience 4 years ago. For example, the fuel sensors need calibration with whatever control system reports the fuel System. Who does this, jeanneau or the dealer Or no one. No one unfortunately is sometimes the case. A dealer with a really saavy maintenance tech manager will check this stuff during commissioning. But good luck as a customer. Seems we’re often left sort out some of this stuff.

Had the same issue. The technician readjusted the tilt limiter during engine maintenance. Outboard's tip is still in the water but it's the same as on my another boat.

Beware of tilting the motors too high: On our 2016 MF 855 (I am the second owner), the dealer apparently installed the hydraulic steering lines too close to the motors, so when the motors were tilted all the way up they would pinch the hoses. We had the boat out for annual service last year, and the local tech (not at the dealer) asked if we had steering problems. He was surprised that we still had steering at all the hoses were so crushed and could have failed at any moment.
Glad they caught it, but not happy about $2500 steering hose replacement. Now we make sure not to tilt all the way up, and added anti-fouling paint on the bottom few inches on our Yamahas that remain in the water. At least our steering is much smoother & easier now!
